Whipped Cream Fruit Salad
This whipped cream fruit salad, along with the homemade whipped cream, is a throwback to my childhood and one of my favorites. It’s a staple at every Thanksgiving, and it is so easy to make with only four ingredients. I remember being a child and wrecking my appetite with this dish 🙂 And because we were at grandma’s house, she would let us eat as much as we wanted :). We have always made our whipped cream fruit salad with canned fruit, but you can of course choose to make it with fresh fruit. If using canned fruit, the most important thing is to let the fruit drain overnight in the fridge (see step 1 below). For the whipped cream, you can either make homemade whipped cream from heavy cream or from coconut cream if you are vegan.
What is usually in a fruit salad?
Because I use canned fruit for my fruit salad, it consists of pears, green grapes, peaches, maraschino cherries, and pineapple. I then add in a banana and red grapes. But really though, a fruit salad can contain whatever combination of fruit you want.
How do you make fruit salad with whipped cream?
Simple! You take canned fruit, a sliced banana, a cup of halved red grapes, homemade whipped cream, and you mix everything together.
What is a good dressing for fruit salad?
Personally, I think the best dressing for a fruit salad is homemade whipped cream!
How to Make Whipped Cream Fruit Salad: Step-By-Step
Step 1. Drain off both cans of fruit in a stainless steel sieve. If desired, rinse fruit under running water. Then place sieve over a deep glass bowl, cover with saran wrap, and set in the refrigerator overnight to allow the remainder of the liquid to drain off. Excess water will make the fruit salad soupy, and we don’t want that!
Step 2. The next morning, thinly slice a banana, and halve enough red grapes lengthwise to fill about a cup (about 20 grapes). Mix the banana and the red grapes in with the rest of the fruit. Gently fold in the whipped cream. Serve immediately, and garnish each serving with ground cinnamon, if desired.

This looks delicious. I always have fruit salad, at least once in a week. But in my case, it was different, few of the fruits are same, but my mother do mix some other fruits as well like watermelon or chickoo. But I prefer watermelon. Maybe I can have this as well. It does look yummy.
This is a totally new version for me. I had never considered adding whipped cream to a fruit salad but i can see how that would work well x
Fruit and cream was a staple in our house growing up, especially at holidays. Slight twist for the UK version is we never used whipped cream but a double cream. And yes ALWAYS canned fruit.
oooo I’ve never had double cream! I’ll have to see if I can get my hands on it, and try it out! Thanks for sharing that tip 🙂
Looks yummy. My mom makes a good fruit salad too but she only uses thick cream. I will try your recipe using whipped cream. That sounds even better.
I am a fan of fruit salad but I have never tried adding whipped cream to it. But looking at this, I might give it a try.
I am making this tomorrow. It looks delicious! Never tried whipped cream to make fruit salad before but looking at your photos is reason enough for me to try!
